And So I Watch You From Afar are a four-piece instrumental rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The band consists of Rory Friers and Tony Wright on guitars, Johnny Adger on bass and Chris Wee on drums.

The band was formed in late 2005 and released their debut mini-album This Is Our Machine and Nothing Can Stop It in early 2007. This was followed by a collaboration EP entitled Tonight The City Burns, released in October 2007, that featured vocals from Cahir O'Doherty of Fighting With Wire and Jetplane Landing and Johnny Black of LaFaro. By the time they came to recording their debut full length album the band had toured the UK as well as in support of High On Fire, Crippled Black Phoenix, 65daysofstatic and Yourcodenameis:milo and would go on to tour with the likes of Clutch, Oceansize, Envy, Trash Talk and Them Crooked Vultures. They had also, by this time, been getting noticed by UK and European media.

In 2009, ASIWYFA played 170 gigs in Europe. From tours in the UK to opening Pukkelpop festival in Belgium in front of 4500 people to Novarock festival in Austria, gigs in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and Russia. Their hometown Belfast shows range from the 1,500 capacity headline Christmas homecoming gig in the Ulster Hall to a basement party. Their self-titled debut album was released in April 2009. It was named the 6th best album of 2009 by Rock Sound.^[1]

In 2010, they played EuroSonic Festival and were nominated for both Ireland's Choice Music Prize and the XFM New Music Album of the Year for 2009 in the UK, and played South By South West (SXSW) festival in Texas.

Touring in 2010 brought the band to the US with Japanese band Envy, to festivals such as Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Electric Picnic, Oxegen and Sonisphere and to a total of 17 countries in Europe. As well as festival shows and the band's own shows, they have also toured as the main support band to Them Crooked Vultures.

In 2011 the band won Best EP at the Digital Socket Awards in Dublin.^[2]

The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw is the second full-length studio album by Chicago post-metal band Pelican. It was released May 22, 2005 on Hydra Head Records. Regarding the lengthy and unusual name of the album, guitarist Trevor de Brauw joked, "The title is meant to confuse people. The original title was going to be Black Doom on Tuesday."^[1]

According to de Brauw, various influences came into making the album, including early industrial, hardcore other metal influences, and has also noted the high quality of the studio and exceptional amount of time the group had to finish the album compared to that of their previous effort, Australasia. As the band is very environmentally conscious, The Fire... has a nature-driven theme with song titles such as "Last Day of Winter," "Autumn into Summer," and "Aurora Borealis."^[2] It also marks the introduction of acoustic guitar to Pelican's catalog of full-length albums.

"March to the Sea" found substantial airplay on the satellite radio station Hard Attack. An extended version of the track, entitled "March into the Sea," was released on the group's similarly titled EP only a few months prior. This version has a less refined sound and runs nearly twice as long at 20:28. De Brauw considers the EP version a "teaser single before the record came out, as well as a collector's item for completionists."

Formed in 1994 in Montreal, Canada, the band has been highly influential within the post-rock genre. Working with orchestrated arrangements, the nine-piece group created tracks with wide dynamic ranges, a highly evocative use of instrumentation and sounds and uncompromising long form compositions. Their engrossing use of art and visuals in both album packaging and live performances creates an enigmatic aura.

Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada is the first EP released by Godspeed You! Black Emperor on the Montreal-based record label Constellation Records in 1999 (catalogue number CST006) and was re-released by Kranky Records (KRANK034.)

The album packaging makes only sparing reference to either the band or the album title: the outer packaging does not make any reference to Godspeed, but mentions them in the liner notes; the album title is only shown on the spine of the album cover. The song titles are not listed anywhere on the cover.

The cardboard album case is unusual in that it opens in the opposite direction of a conventional CD case; this is due to the Hebrew text being read from right to left.

The front of the album contains Hebrew characters, in transliterated form, "Tohu va bohu". This phrase is used in both Genesis 1:2 and Jeremiah 4:23. Lines 23-27 of Jeremiah appear on the inner sleeve of the album in both English and Hebrew. The dots and dashes above the letters are called trope. They dictate the tune and intonation and are found in the Torah as well as the rest of the Hebrew Bible. On the inside cover, this text is put into greater context, with Jer 4:23–27 provided in both Hebrew and English (seemingly the Jewish Publication Society version):

The back of the EP contains a diagram with instructions in Italian on how to make a molotov cocktail.

Moya

The song title is a reference to band member Mike Moya. Concert setlists sometimes refer to this song as Gorecki.

BBF3

The song title "BBF3" refers to the vox pop interviewee going by the name of "Blaise Bailey Finnegan III", whose eccentric ramblings form the core of the song. Finnegan recites a poem which he claims to have written himself. The poem is, in fact, mostly composed of lyrics from the song "Virus" by Iron Maiden that were written by their then-vocalist, Blaze Bayley, although Godspeed were apparently unaware of this at the time they released the EP. Blaise Bailey Finnegan III is also apparently the same person being interviewed at the beginning of F♯A♯∞'s "Providence," and indeed some concert performances of "BBF3" also incorporate that sample. Additionally, the "Providence" sample was used by the band to end their performance of "Steve Reich" during their live session for VPRO Radio in 1998.

Broke up after releasing their only full length, “Leave it to Science To Solve All Your Problems”. Their discography consists of one demo and a full length. Members have gone on to play in bands like Page France and Moscow Telephone.
