Boredoms (ボアダムス (Boadamusu)) (or, more recently, V∞redoms) (without an article) is an alternative rock band from Osaka, Japan. The band was officially formed in 1986, although some date the band to bedroom tape experiments from 1982.[1][2] The band's output is usually referred to as noise rock or sometimes Japanoise, though their more recent records have been largely based around repetitive minimalism, ambient music, and tribal drumming.
The band has a vast and sometimes confusing discography. Many band members have rotated through the group over the years, often using a number of various stage names. Singer Yamantaka Eye is the closest the band has to a frontman; his style includes a range of baffling screams, babbling, electronic effects, and very heavy post-production. Drummer/keyboard player/vocalist Yoshimi P-We is featured on most Boredoms recordings.

Lightning Bolt is a noise rock duo from Providence, Rhode Island, composed of Brian Chippendale on drums and vocals and Brian Gibson on bass guitar. The band met and formed in 1994, when the members of the then-trio attended the Rhode Island School of Design. The band signed to Load Records in 1997, and released their self-titled debut two years later. In total, Lightning Bolt has released five full-length albums, numerous vinyl singles, and appeared on several compilations.
Lightning Bolt are known for their guerrilla-style live performances, where they typically play on the ground rather than a stage, with the crowd gathered around them. The band's sound is typically loud and aggressive, though the group cites composers Philip Glass and Sun Ra as compositional influences.
Polvo is an American indie noise rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band, formed in 1990, is fronted by guitarists/vocalists Ash Bowie and Dave Brylawski. Brian Quast plays drums, and Steve Popson plays bass guitar. Eddie Watkins was the band's original drummer, but did not rejoin the band upon its reunion in 2008.
Polvo is widely considered to be standard bearer of a genre which came to be known as math rock,[1] although in interviews the band disavowed that categorization.[2] Their sound was defined by complex and dissonant guitar harmonies and driving rhythm, complementing cryptic, often surrealist lyrics. Their sound was so unpredictable and angular that the band's guitarists were often accused of failing to play with correctly tuned guitars. Polvo's songs and artwork frequently featured Asian/"exotic" themes and references. The band's name means "octopus" in Portuguese and "powder" or "dust" in Spanish; in Spain it also is a slang word for sex.
After several years of playing together, touring and releasing an EP in 2006 titled Tales, New Zealand will mark a stopping point for Bang! Bang! Aids!. With flourishing ambitions to explore different avenues, Bang! Bang! Aids! will be put on hold until further notice, "B!B!A! are dead after Camp. Camp and New Zealand will be our last shows" says Rhys. This may or may not explain Rhys' eagerness to play a house party in Auckland, but with the end in sight I'm sure the pair is looking to play as often as possible.
With their final show less than a month away, the pair will soon set their sights on new exciting adventures, and for Rhys that doesn't involve playing music. "I am off to China for a year to teach". But for his band mate and long time companion it means a chance to try life as a solo musician, "Hobbs is sticking around in NZ/Melbourne to party and rock solo stuff." The details of this project are yet to be revealed, but with a chance of local involvement I'm sure it won't go unnoticed.
On January 25, 2011 Deerhoof released Deerhoof vs. Evil via Polyvinyl Records. The release of the album was preceded by a "Global Album Leak" during which a 12 blogs from several countries around the world premiered a song from the album one week at a time. [25]. As with the group's previous albums, Deerhoof vs. Evil received ample critical acclaim with publications such as MOJO calling it "an absolute joy" and Entertainment Weekly declaring it "as beautifully bizarre as ever."
The album also marked the beginning of a potential 7" series wherein a vocalist sings new lyrics over an instrumental of a song from the record on the A-side and provided a song from their own band on the B-side. So far, two 7"s have been released: the first with LA-based rapper Busdriver and his band Physical Forms (which includes a former member of The Mae Shi), and the second with Xiu Xiu.
