Das Oath / Ampere split.

Das Oath was a thrashcore band from New York, originating from the The Netherlands. They formed in 1999. After two rehearsals the band recorded their 7” eight song debut in Rotterdam. It was not until a year later when Das Oath started to play shows. With only one 7” released the band hit the road and played all over Europe during the fall of 2000. Upon their return to The Netherlands the band went straight into the studio to record songs for what would become their 9” / 10” record. After the recording session the band started to prepare for their first USA tour slated in December 2000.

Ampere is an American hardcore band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts in 2002known for their short (10-15 minutes) but extremely loud and intense live shows. The band has put the importance of DIY hardcore punk ethics at the forefront of their lyrics and are renowned for the particular attention they bring to their vegan principles.

Render Useless - The Relationship Between a 1/4 Note and a 1/8 Note

Render Useless was an emo/hardcore band from Victoria, BC, Canada.
They released a Self-Titled 7” (1995, Slow to Burn Records), The Relationship Between a 14 Note and an 18 Note 7” (1997, Mountain Collective), and also a split 7” with The Republic of Freedom Fighters (1996, Buddy System Records).
They have also appeared on numerous compilations.

Edhochuli - Edhochuli Is One Word.

If you have not heard of Edhochuli (read Ed Hock You Lee) then you are missing the fuck out. Named after a football ref who fucked over the Pittsburgh Steelers, ED consists of members of the sorely missed Outclassed. I think they all were in Outclassed at one time, but I'm not 100% sure. They hold it down for Pittsburgh really hard along with their dudes Worn Out Tigers & Who Goes There.

Alright, so musically this shit is off the chain. It of course sounds somewhat similar to Outclassed because they share so many members but they have perfected their own sound that separates them from their former band. While there are still Jon Ahn's crazy bass parts and over all good time rock and roll riffs, Edhochuli seems to be more rock and roll than Outclassed was.

…Who Calls So Loud features ex-members of Funeral Diner and Portraits of Past, but that’s not the only reason you should listen to their self-titled release. Their label, Protagonist Music, is well known for its incredible acts such as In First Person, Pyramids, Osceola, and Suis La Lune. The band plays emotional hardcore that breathes with quieter ambient sections.

For the past few years, Sohns has toured the United States leaving a thick trail of broken windows, torn bits of black shirt, and blood, all shrouded in a strong musky scent, wherever they pass. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, the quintet has released an EP, a multimedia disc, and a split (with friends, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy) with labels: Mayday! Mayday! Records!, The Little Viking Company, and Mt. Hope Revival Records respectively. The band is currently readying its debut full-length record, “To Ward It Off And Drown It Out.” Recorded with Chris Common (These Arms Are Snakes, Pelican) at Seattle’s Red Room Studio and mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, Young Widows), the debut is sure to thrash anyone brave enough to come within earshot.

This City Sunrise

This City Sunrise are equal parts tension and release. They take the breath taking backdrop of New Zealand and it’s many beautiful landscapes, and combine it with a jilted, desperate grasp for the ears of people who place individuality before stereotypes and copy cats.

Do not mistake them however, these three kiwis aren’t trying to change the world. They only seek the subtle joys of sharing an appreciation for hard work, art that dares to be different, and the healing properties of music in which one person’s sorrow can be another person’s saviour.

Without a doubt the most passionate and ferocious live show delivered by a New Zealand group, they have no plans to stick around. With international goals, they hope to take a new element of ‘the kiwi sound’ and deliver a reputation previously unheard of to their home land.

This trio from Kita-Kyushu, Japan plays uncompromising and spontaneous emo hardcore, which descends from bands from half of 90’s released on label Ebullition like Torches To Rome, Bread and Circuits or Yaphet Kotto mixed with dedication of dc hardcore bands like Ignition or Swiz, all together with aggressive, explosive Endstand sound! These guys are absolutely coordinated, singer and guitarist Koichiro alias Kojak has screamy but still melodic voice (he was driver on The Robocop Kraus tour around Japan), crazy drummer plays with total dedication and bass player understood what is this instrument about.

Vikings - 2008 EP

Vikings! was a three piece hardcore punk/screamo band from Hagerstown, MD. They formed in the winter of ‘07/’08 and began playing shows in mid 2008. They released one EP (2008 EP) which was recorded by Mike York of Pianos Become the Teeth at the Crawlspace Studio in Eastern Maryland. They have played shows with bands like Algernon Cadwallader, The Blue Letter, We Were Skeletons, Nationale, Fine Lines, Pianos Become the Teeth, Age Sixteen, Sawhorse, Monument, and L’antietam. Vikings played their last show together on April 2nd, 2009 in Frederick, Maryland.

L'Antietam - Arthur Carr

L'Antietam is from New Hampshire, a state that you might figure not a lot of punk bands come from. And you'd probably be right. Although Furnace and Bravo Fucking Bravo are both from the same general area, and I would suggest checking them both out (Bravo even featured L'Antietam's bassist John on the bass for a while).

The band formed in 2005 while the guys were still in high school, and put out a self titled debut on the German label Adagio830, followed up by a four song 7" entitled "We Like it When the Red Water Comes Out". The debut was comprised of screamy hardcore songs that caught the attention, but still seemed to lack something. The 7" brought some of the ideas brought to the table on the debut to fruition, creating a spazzy, noodly sound full of passion and energy.

Comadre is a band from Redwood City (a suburb of San Francisco), California, comprising of former members of Heartcrosslove, One’s Own Ruin, and Light This City. Their sound is an off-shoot of hardcore and punk played fast and chaotic with an abundance of energy, but also a large focus on melody and tunefulness. Their influences can perhaps best be shown by the covers the band has performed live, by groups such as Rites of Spring, Refused, Kid Dynamite, and Suicide File.

The band formed and played their first shows in early 2001. The initial practicing lineup consisted of 10,000 Marbles (Guitar), Concentration Camp (Vocals), and Mustard Gas (Bass Guitar). Just prior to recording their demo tape, Concentration Camp moved to guitar and vocal duties were taken over by Pink Eyes (also known as Mr. Damian). Drums are played by Mr. Jo (also credited as G. Beat or J. Falco) and Young Governor was added as a third guitarist in 2007

City of Caterpillar

City of Caterpillar was an American band, from Richmond, Virginia.

Their music moves from technical to restrained in a matter of seconds, often showcasing the prowess of their drummer. City of Caterpillar's music brings a great deal of focus to its dynamics, using (yet expanded upon) the standard emo formula pioneered by bands like Indian Summer, as well as the epic, dirge-like qualities of Portraits of Past, Maximillian Colby and Sleepytime Trio. Like these bands, they often use the entire band to crescendo into a huge cathartic climax.

Their sound encompassed a style which was more influenced by bands such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mogwai than any of the older emo bands, and was very bipolar in its approach. Very long, slow build-ups would give way to chaotic screaming and passionate singing. Their Japanese tourmates, Envy, also took this approach.

The band broke up in late 2003 as a result of personal differences.
